Life can be challenging. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, struggling with stress or anxiety, navigating relationship difficulties, coping with loss and grief or simply seeking greater clarity and balance, you don’t have to face it alone
I provide a safe confidential and supportive space where you can talk openly, feel heard and explore the challenges that matter to you.
My approach is compassionate, empathetic and tailored to your individual needs, helping you build resilience, gain insight and move towards positive change. I use an integrative approach to help you explore past difficulties, current difficulties and future concerns plans and goals.
I will support you to see that meaningful, lasting and positive change is possible with a little help.
Meet Karen
My name is Karen Kernohan and I am based in Ahoghill, County Antrim in Northern Ireland.
I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor (an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy) and I am passionate about supporting individuals to realise their worth, value and purpose. My training began over 25 years ago studying for a degree in psychology, with a passion even back then to help and support people.
-
For around 20 years I worked in charity, church and community settings, supporting people who found themselves in need of some extra support, practically and emotionally, and had the privilege of walking alongside people from every age and stage of life. Five years ago, I added to my training with a diploma integrative counselling and now counsel full time in both community and private settings.
I am married and a mum to 3 teenagers. I love walking the dog, the seaside is my safe place and will go to great lengths for a good coffee!
I believe that having a safe and welcoming space can be the starting point to having the confidence to talk about those experiences or relationships that you have found, or are finding, difficult. I will gently help you to listen to the "still, small voice" within you - the one that knows you best and wants the best for your future.
My experience includes working with relationship issues, trauma, low mood, anxiety, depression, stress and overwhelm, the affects of abuse, grief, issues of identity, life stages, body image, low self-esteem, self-harm, bullying, family breakdown - amongst others.
Reaching out can feel scary ( I get it, I’ve been there), and there is no “one size fits all” method. We can work together to find what works best, for you.
